616 police academy graduates join NYPD

A total of 616 graduates from 49 countries graduated from this year’s police academy and are set to join New York’s Finest. The added members to the police force come after the city saw 20 shootings over the weekend. Four of which were fatal. Most of the graduating class will be sent to high crime areas throughout all five boroughs as part of Operation IMPACT.
